About the role

You'll introduce our brands to independent retailers in your territory, open new wholesale accounts, and build relationships that lead to repeat orders. You'll have product samples, wholesale pricing, sales materials, training and CRM support.

  • Visit independent retailers in person: convenience stores, gas stations, specialty and grocery markets, gyms and similar outlets
  • Present our products, samples and wholesale pricing to owners and buyers
  • Obtain wholesale orders and open new accounts
  • Follow up with buyers to build long-term relationships and generate reorders

  • A reliable way to travel between store locations in the territory
  • Clear, professional communication in person, by phone and by email
  • Comfort using a smartphone and CRM app
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements listed below, including lifting up to 20 lb and standing, walking and holding conversations with store owners, buyers, wholesalers and distributors, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • If you drive for work: a valid driver's license and current auto insurance
  • Self-motivated and able to plan your own store visits and routes, manage your time and work toward sales goals with limited supervision
  • Comfort explaining wholesale pricing, margins and order quantities to buyers
  • Authorized to work in the United States

W-2 employees

  • Base pay: the minimum wage for where you work (the highest of the applicable state, county or city rate). Base pay goes up whenever that minimum wage increases.
  • Commission: 5%–10% of wholesale sales on an account's first order, depending on account type (see rates below). Reorders earn different commission rates, set out in the commission plan.
  • Commission plan: Full terms are set out in a written commission plan, provided and signed before you start. It covers how commissions are earned and calculated, when they're paid, returns and chargebacks, and payment after employment ends.
  • Expenses: Mileage and approved business expenses reimbursed per company policy.
  • Benefits: Paid sick leave as required by law.

Where a city or county sets a higher minimum wage (for example Seattle, Los Angeles or San Francisco), that higher rate applies.

Independent sales agents (1099)

  • Commission only, at the first-order rates below and separate reorder rates, under a written independent sales agreement.
  • Agents set their own schedules and methods, use their own vehicle and tools, and aren't eligible for employee wages, benefits or expense reimbursement.
  • Not available in California.

Rates shown apply to an account's first order only. Reorders from the same account earn different commission rates, which are set out in your written commission plan.

Base pay for W-2 employees follows the minimum wage where you work and changes when that minimum wage changes. Commission earnings depend on sales performance.

  • Experience in outside, route or B2B sales
  • Experience selling CPG, food and beverage, or snack products to independent retail
  • Existing professional familiarity with retailers in the territory

Most of the working week is spent visiting stores in your assigned local territory, within one of: California, Nevada, Oregon, Texas or Washington. The role involves frequent local travel between stores and carrying sample cases of up to 20 lb. W-2 schedule: typically Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm; independent agents set their own hours. Overnight travel may be required occasionally.

The physical demands below are those an employee needs to meet to do this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made so that people with disabilities can perform the essential functions.

  • Visit multiple retail stores in person during a typical workday, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Stand and walk for long periods while inside stores, about 3 hours per day
  • Lift and carry sample cases, product cartons, and display materials weighing up to 20 lb, for example from a vehicle into a store
  • Bend, reach and kneel to arrange product samples, shelf displays and point-of-sale materials
  • Travel frequently between store locations within the territory, using a reliable way of getting there
  • Enter and leave a range of retail settings, such as convenience stores, gas stations, markets and gyms. Some stops may be outdoors or in varying weather
  • Speak clearly with buyers and store owners in person and by phone, including in busy or noisy stores
  • Use a smartphone or tablet to log visits, orders and notes in the CRM while in the field

  • Product samples
  • Sales materials & wholesale catalogs
  • Wholesale pricing & retailer info
  • Sales training
  • CRM access
  • Ongoing support from our brand team

What you could earn

Example: W-2 rep in California

  • Base pay: $16.90/hour × about 40 hours a week ≈ $2,930 a month
  • First-order commission: open 10 new direct store accounts in a month with an average first order of $400 at 10% = $400
  • Reorders: accounts that keep ordering earn you reorder commission on top, at the rates in your commission plan
  • Example total: about $3,330 for the month, before reorder commission and before taxes

This is an illustrative example only, not a promise or guarantee of earnings. Actual pay depends on your location’s minimum wage, hours worked, the accounts you open, order sizes and reorders. Commission terms are set out in the written commission plan.

How earnings grow

  • Every new account you open pays first-order commission
  • Every account that keeps reordering keeps paying reorder commission, so your book of accounts builds over time
  • Distributor and wholesale accounts can add larger orders to your territory
  • Independent sales agents (1099, outside California) earn commission only, at the rates in their agreement

The role day to day

A typical day

  • Plan your route and check follow-ups in the CRM
  • Load sample cases and display materials
  • Visit 6–8 stores: meet owners and buyers, present products, take orders
  • Check shelves and stock at existing accounts
  • Log visits, orders and notes in the CRM
  • Follow up with buyers by phone, text or email

Training & growth

  • Paid onboarding and sales training for W-2 employees
  • Product samples, sales materials, wholesale pricing and CRM access from day one
  • Ongoing coaching and support from our brand team
  • Room to grow: strong reps can take on larger territories, more brands, or a lead or territory manager role as we expand
